Good evening everyone! I just finished my last lab & lab report for the semester and what better way to end it with a review! I finally received my Julep St. Patrick’s Day mystery box today and thought I’d share with everyone. So I paid $20 for this box with a coupon – without the coupon would have been I think $60 and Julep said you can receive any where from $60 - $200 worth of goodies. Correct me if I’m wrong! So first off, I’ll start by introducing all the products in the box and how much they retail for (I want to make sure I get what I paid for!)
Beautiful Hands To-Go $22
- Glycolic Hand Scrub 30mL/1 fl oz
- Age Defying Hand Brightener 30mL/1 fl oz
Julep Facial for Hands is based on our very popular Julep Girlfriend’s Glycolic Manicure. Potent glycolic acid combined with apricot seeds provides powerful double exfoliation that leaves your hands feeling noticeably softer and looking younger after just one use. Naturally scented with orange oil for a refreshing aromatherapy boost with each use.
Julep Glow On Age Defying Hand Brightener visibly minimizes the appearance of fine lines and age spots on your hands, adding radiant glow and evening skin tone. Contains rare African plant extracts that are clinically proven to block melanin production and reduce hyper-pigmentation and micro light diffusing technology gives hands an instant glowing and luminescent appearance. Advanced emulsion system imparts water-resistant, non-greasy softness.
Julep Base Coat $14
The foundation to a long-lasting manicure. Protects nails from yellowing and staining caused by dark nail color. Professional quality “4-free” nail polish formulation, developed without carcinogens such as formaldehyde or formaldehyde resin, toluene and DBP.
Julep Crystal Nail File $6
A fine grit glass nail file that is gentle on your nails. Remember to file in only one direction to minimize fraying that can damage nails.
Sheer opalescent shimmer adds a soft glow when used alone and a high-fashion holographic effect when used over another colour.
Neon peach. Professional quality “4-free” nail polish formulation, developed without carcinogens such as formaldehyde or formaldehyde resin, toluene and DBP.
Sheer spring green with a flash of aqua sparkle glitter.
Here’s a capture of the colours on my nails. I know two of them are more for topcoat but I thought I’d let you guys see how to looks. Sofia actually seems like a matte glitter but it doesn’t say on the website.
Putting all the numbers together, I get $84 worth of Julep products. Do I think it’s worth it? Meh. I honestly do not see why their polishes are $14 for a measly 0.8mL. I was excited for this but I have to admit, I am disappointed. I am about to cancel my Julep subscription forever unless someone can persuade me otherwise.
What do you guys think? Was it worth it? Should I cancel?

Thanks to Sugarmitten, Essie will be launching a new collection sometime in April and I am super excited for it! I really like soft pastel colours so this is exactly what I've been looking for! Unfortunately, I am not a big fan of Essie because they're too sheer. I feel like I have to pour half to bottle on my fingers to get some coverage. What's wrong with me?
Another thanks to Giselle from Two Lacquered Girls, OPI announced its new Germany collection! So many new polishes! Which launch will you be looking forward to? Any pointers for my Essie problem?
Afternoon all. Hope all is well. It's freezing today! I was hoping for some warm weather but I guess that's not happening. Anyway, simple design with Essie Pearlfection as base, China Glaze (I forgot the name) but it's a neon orange super bright and loud topped with Color Club - worth the risqué.
Hope everyone is enjoying their Monday so far. I has TWO MORE WEEKS of class left then exams and FINALLY off for the summer. Super stoked to go CUBA! What are you plans this summer? Have you been Cuba or anywhere south? Let me know whasss good!

Just a quickie today. Tried my hand at cloud manis - I definitely need more practice. Aside from that, I used ELF as base then Essie Pearlfection. For the clouds, I used Essie Blanc and another ELF polish.

SNAIL NAIL MAIL! It's finally here!
I ordered these beauties a while ago and they’re finally here! Super excited and just in time for Spring! Sorry for my third post today - I just could not wait to share with everyone! Swatches below. Enjoy!
Ski Teal We Drop
Hot & Spicy
Jade is the New Black
The “It” Color
Party in My Cabana
What do you guys think of the colour? Do you know any other brands that have dupes of these? Are these dupes of other brands? Let me know below!
I don’t know how many of you heard of Makeup Monthly, but it’s similar to Julep Maven, Topbox, Glymm etc. etc. and I decided to give it a try. Just received my box this month and want to share it with you guys. First off, Makeup Monthly goes by every 3, 6 or 12 months – not monthly. The price for 3 months is $55, 6 months for $110 and 12 months for $220. I opted for 3 months just to see how I like it. They also have 3 options for you to choose from, either nail club, cosmetic club or beauty care club. I naturally choose the nail club option.
With my first box, I received 3 new Essie nail polishes (Café forgot, cute as a button and blanc) very standard colours in my opinion – nothing special and a set of toe dividers. I don’t know how I feel about this box right now because the colours seem to be so out-of-date and I am disappointed with my box. The Essie blanc looked like its been tampered with so I am a bit sketchy about this one. Also, I didn’t like the fact that I had to choose 3, 6, or 12 months right off the bat not knowing if I’ll like it or not and having no options to cancel like the other boxes. I guess I’ll have to wait until next month’s box comes and decide if I want to renew another 3 months.
Café forgot is a nude polish with fine glitter (right) Cute as a button is a pink coral (centre) Blanc is a standard white polish (left) What do you guys think? Would you sign up for Makeup Monthly? Or are you already signed up for something better? Thanks for stopping by!

Hey polish junkies! I've had a production day so I am in a good mood! I had class in the morning, came home and had lunch with my mom, walked my dog, did some paper work and now I am calling Rogers to haggle for a better price plan! So all's good (at this moment anyway) but to top it all off, OPI has a new collection coming out! It's the OPI Summer 2012 Minnie Mouse Collection and it's absolutely gorg! I am in love with pinks.
The collection includes: - Nothin' Mousie 'bout it - I'm all ears - If you moust you moust - The colour of Minnie
To continue on the good news (wow, I'm on a roll!) thanks to the heads up from Megan from Two Lacquered Girls Butter London has a Spring sale. Any 3 Butter London polishes for $30! From what I know, they never go on sale! Don't miss out this chance to get your pretty polished hands on this awesome deal. Cause I know I won't! Use the code SPRING Are you excited for the new OPI collection? Will you be buying any? Do you have any favourite Butter London polishes to recommend? Post below! Happy shopping!Irene x
Hi guys! Hope everyone is doing well! I'm sorry for only posting "polish of the day" lately. I've been so busy with school that I have no time to do anything else! But I promise once school is done, I'll do a better job! Anyway, here is POTD. It's a super gorgeous black linear holo from Color club called revvvolution. It goes on super smooth (like butter!) and it's only a one coater! I'm sure you could put two on it but you really don't need to.

Hi everyone!! My apologizes for not having anything posted yesterday. I wrote my psychology midterm today, which meant that I was studying all day yesterday and had no times to do anything else.
Aside from that, here is OPI's Holland collection - I have a herring problem. It's a blue with fine glitter in it. I don't love it but I don't hate it either. Honestly, I don't know how I feel about it. I took it off after wearing it for a day and now my nails are bare. Sometimes I feel like my nails are grasping for air. Haha I don't know if you guys feel the same way. I wish there was an easy way to avoid your nails turning yellow. Any suggestions? Please don't tell me to not paint my nails cause everyone knows that's not possible. Haha anyway going to finally get some sleep tonight - I don't think I've been that excited for sleep in a while. Good nights love!

Good afternoon ^___^!! I hope y'all aren't suffering from a horrendous hangover but if you are remember to keep that Gatorade or water on hand along with some Advil! Just some holo today. Did I mention that I am IN LOVE with holos? This one is from Color Club - worth the risqué. It's a silver holo packed with specs of glitter. Beautiful in the sun - might add some design on it later. We'll see. Anyway, I'm going to enjoy this amazing sunny day by studying psychology in my hole.

Hey guys!! Hope all is doing well! Happy St. Patrick's Day! I was inspired to do my nails even though they're not done the way I had them in my mind but nonetheless here it is! If you're planning to have a pint of green beer or two today - remember don't drink and drive!

Hello! Just a quickie today. Want to share with you guys OPI designer series - opulence. I heard that they used to be holo but they discontinued the holo and now it just seems like glitter. To be honest, this looked better in the bottle than on my nails. It's like on the verge of holo but not quite. I don't know how I feel about this... meh. I'll wait until tomorrow to see in the sun.
On a side note, I know it has just been a day that I wore the Dior polish but after all the abuse I put it through today (picking a lock with my nail and cleaning my garage) I say it seems to be decent chip-wise. Anyway, back to studying psychology (yes, on a Friday night!).

Hi guys <3 I hope everyone had a lovely week so far. Mine has been hell but it's finally coming to an end! My sister got me a present from Holt Renfrew last week and I never gotten around to show you guys what it was (I think). Well it's a Dior Vernis #579 Plaza and today I finally had the chance to try it out. So below is the picture of the nail polish. It's a very bright - not yet neon but very eye catching pink.
This is my first Dior polish so I thought I'd do a review on it for those of you who plan on purchasing it - it is a higher end nail polish so you might want to do some research before buying it. First off, I found the brush to be much thicker than regular brushes. You can compare the brush to Sally Hansen's Insta-dri but seems to be wider (Picture's below, it's around 5-6mm). So for those of you who has smaller nails like myself, you might have some trouble navigating the brush so you don't paint all over your fingers. It was a bit tricky but in the end I got it! As for the formula, it goes on a bit thick and runs dry before I got to the end of my nail. Maybe I'm just horrible at painting my nails! But the good thing is that it does dry fairly quickly compared to other nail polishes. For optimal coverage, you'll probably need at least 3 coats - with 2 coats you can still see my nail line but it dries super glossy (without a top coat) so I don't know if that makes up for it? The wear and tear on it yet - I wouldn't be able to tell you. Some says it chips easily even with a base some says it wears long. I guess I'll figure it out soon enough. I do think this nail polish is dupable and I do believe OPI has one and I do believe I have it! I will do a comparison for you guys (if you want). In the end, would I purchase another Dior Vernis? Um... I suppose it depends on the colour - if no other companies have it. I've heard great things on the Grey one though. But for the price of around $30 plus taxes meh... I rather go buy myself 3 bottles of OPI instead. Sorry for the long post. I hope this will help you guys in making your decision. Irene x

Hello my little polish addicts <3 Just doing a quick post today before I plough through some chemistry. This is my first and only Nubar. It's called black chrome and it's a matte black with a hint of shimmer. I think it's a little too sheer for my liking - this is with 2 coats. I would have done 3 coats but I was afraid it'll look thick. Surprising, it dried super quick and super thin but it's still too sheer for my likings. Yes, I'll wear it again but I don't think any time soon. Plus, spring is around the corner and I'm super excited to do pastels! I'm not usually a fan of pastels but they seem to be super in this season.
Oh, if anyone is interested in stocking up on some nail goodies - Zoya has a sale! Buy any 3 get any 3 free. I haven't read the terms and conditions yet but I will def check that out. I need me some new colours. Until then, stay safe my loves!

Hi y'all! Hope everyone's doing well! I decided to try a different mani today. No time to do anything intricate cause I'm super busy with school. Very simple - base coat, CG sweet hook, CC foil me once and a top coat. Ta-da! The results are below. I hate the lighting and my camera. I hope to take a better shot tomorrow in the sun (if there is any!). Anyway, my week of hell begins tomorrow! Hope you guys are taking it easy! Lots of love!

Heyyyy! I survived 6 hours of chemistry on a Saturday today! I should have treated myself to a new bottle of shiny! But I didn't cause I have too many untried! Well I went through one untried today from China Glaze - passion in the pacific. My camera (iPhone 4) sucks at capturing the true colour of this beauty! It's more of a green (rather than blue) and there are very fine shimmer in it. Next time I wear it, I'd probably put a top coat packed with silver glitter - what would you have done? Hope you're in enjoying your weekend as much as I am (which is not much) Irene x

Hello everyone! Hope everyone had a lovely day cus I know I did :3 The sun was out and we had abnormally warm weather here! Spent sometime outside and it's a nice change from the cold - I hope to pack away my Uggs soon and pull out my Toms! I know this polish of the day doesn't really fit the warm weather but my excuse is, I did it yesterday where there was a bit of snow on the ground in the morning (: Anyway, have to keep this short - I should be studying ): Enjoy! Irene x

Hello again ;) I couldn't wait to try on the Color Club I got today but I didn't know how/what to do with it. It gets frustrating... but nonetheless, check out the design. I did a simple french mani with it. I really like this colour cause its super shimmery, packed with glitter and gives it a very holographic effect. It also goes on very nicely. I only needed one coat for it to be opaque (I usually need at least 2 coats for other polishes). I ordered more Color Club and they should be on the way. Can't wait! Irene x
Hiiiii guysssssss Okay. So I went a little overboard today. But I have a legit excuse. They were on sale! I went to Shoppers Drug Mart last night and couldn't resist some were on sale some were just tempting me. Got a bunch of minis - I've never heard of this brand (Essence) but they're super cheap ($1.49 for 5ml) so I got all 22 of them (haha I know I'm insane) there's a picture of the nail polishes I got from SDM below. Right after I took that picture... the orange bottle on the lower right corner decided to jump off the bed, break and splash every where. UGH went all over my legs so I look like I have a tan-gone-bad. On a brighter note - my polishes that I ordered online came! Holy I was super anxious waiting for them. There's also a picture below. I got two China Glaze, a Color Club and a Nubar. They are absolutely beauties. I'll show you guys later! And finally got a few more China Glaze, nail polish thinner - didn't realize I didn't have any, and a few more random things. Pictures are below! If you want to see any swatches let me know (: Irene x

Hey guys, As promised, here's a picture of my racks! I should have turned the flash off (sorry) but anyhow, they're up and waiting to be filled up! I made several orders and waiting for new polishes to arrive. Super excited :3 Well that's it for today. I should be studying for my chemistry midterm. Irene x
